Doering/Herold, born Geismar/Pfaffschwende in 1837/1840

I am writing to what I hope is the group, since I have not gotten a response
from Marcellinus Prien for quite some time.

I am a great-grandaughter of George Doering and Anna Maria Herold, who were
born in Geismar and Pfaffschwende in 1837 and 1840. I have been in contact
with Marcellinus, who gave me much information on my Doering ancestors from
Geismar and the marriage record for George and Anna Maria. This marriage took
place in Pfaffschwende, which leads us to believe that Anna Maria was born
there.

Anna Maria's parents were Adam Herold and Mary Elisabeth Buechel. All we
know of Adam is that he was in the military and probably buried at
Alsace-Lorraine. Mary Elisabeth and three of her sons came to the USA in 1866, and the
Doerings (George and Anna Maria) made the trip in 1868, after the birth of
their first child. There was a family of Buechels already in the US and Mary E.
and her daughter, Anna Maria, settled in the same town, Fort Madison, Lee
County, Iowa. Three brothers, Gottfried Buechel,b.1819, Peter Buechel, b.
1821, and Valentine Buechel, b.1826, arrived in the Fort Madison area about 1850.

Some records lead us to believe that they were from the Thuringen area.
Gottfried may have been born in Heiligenstadt, and Valentine in Pfaffschwende.
These three brothers have always been known to be related to the Doering
family, but just how we don't know. Was Mary Elisabeth their sister? Or maybe
their aunt?
I would very much like to find their birth records, so as to
determine if the three brothers share parents with Mary Elisabeth. Can you help?

Also, if you could shed any light on Adam Herold and his family, there are
lots and lots of Herolds in the US who would be very happy. We only learned
his first name from Marcellinus when he found Anna Maria's marriage record.

All the Herolds were calling him "Unknown" Herold.

I'm sorry this has gotten so long, but I hope you will be able to help me.

I know that all the Doerings and Herolds in our family will appreciate
knowing more about their ancestors.
